Wimbledon Village Staircase
Here we panelled up a 4 storey flight of stairs at a beautiful house right in the centre of London’s highly sought after Wimbledon Village area. This involved fixing a base layer of 6mm MDF up until the dado rail height, and then using 21mm hardwood astragal moulding and an MDF dado. This was then all finished in a white eggshell. The use of the 6mm MDF base layer helps to create a more authentic Wainscote appearance.
This was a highly involved project; the MDF base layer had to perfectly match a curved skirting board profile. The staircase itself had many turns which created a huge number of angles and mitres for the panelling to follow. Once the decorating was complete, the panelling was a beautiful addition to the stairwell, helping one’s eye to navigate the space and to complement the house’s traditional features.
