Bookcases and Cabinets, Ladbroke Grove
The brief was to create an 8 feet long bookshelf with cabinets below, finished in Wimborne White by Farrow and Ball. The client s wanted to incorporate fluted columns with rosettes to surround the bookshelves. The cabinets needed to be quite shallow in depth so as to not consume too much of the floor space.
The room and cabinets is the first thing you enter as you climb the stairs from the front door, so the shallow cabinet depth worked well within the space. The clients wanted the bookshelves to run right to the ceiling. The actual ceiling height within the space was quite low so we avoided using any cornice moulding to cap the piece.
