Traditional Alcove Cabinets with Floating Shelves
This project was to create two traditional style alcove cabinets with complementing floating shelves above. The client wanted the cabinet to be very shallow so as to not consume much floor space but to also provide some functional storage. They are finished in Ammonite by Farrow and Ball, a very pale gray colour which works in the space beautifully. We really liked the client’s choice with the shelf spacing on this job. Often the shelf gaps diminish as they rise towards the ceiling, however here they are evenly spaced which creates a nice symmetry in the room.
The client had the wall mounted TV fitted before the units went in. She was very keen on the clearance between the bottom and top of the TV against the cabinet and shelving being as minimal as possible. This required high precision on the measure up beforehand, as there really wasn’t any margin for error. Fortunately everything went well with the install and the end result is very visually appealing.
